Assistance comes as the state works to recover from severe winter storm.
The Environmental Protection Agency has sent personnel and resources to Texas to assess and assist in restoring the drinking water in several of the state’s communities. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality requested help through FEMA and is supplying findings of water tests to the EPA as some water systems are inoperable or under boil and conservation advisories.
Three EPA mobile drinking water labs have been deployed to help analyze samples in Austin, Fort Worth, and Houston. “The Region 7 mobile lab team is in Texas to help restore drinking water systems… by analyzing water samples for bacteria,” Acting EPA Region 7 Administrator Ed Chu said.
